The various elements of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia are complex and vary among cultural perspectives. In line with the recent debates on this hot topic, St. Mary’s Hospital Center (SMHC) is presenting a lecture on this very controversial matter: Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide: A Pandora’s Box?”
Join us at the SMHC to learn more about this sensitive issue that concerns all of us.
What: Lecture entitled “Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide: A Pandora’s Box?”
Who: Dr. José Luis Pereira - Head & Full Professor, Division of Palliative Care, University of Ottawa and Medical Chief, Palliative Care Programs, Bruyère Continuing Care & Ottawa Hospital.
Dr. Pereira spent three years working in Switzerland which has shaped his thinking on assisted suicide as a Palliative Care physician and has heightened his concerns about its legalization.
Dr. Justine Farley, Director of Palliative Care at St. Mary’s Hospital Center, will be moderating this event.
